Our Process
We love creating projects that reflect our clients’ unique personalities and lifestyles.
We value clear communication every step of the way. To do this, we follow our tried-and-true four phase process on every project, whether we’re working on an interior décor refresh, residential design, remodel or completely new construction.
1
Establish Scope & Sequence
During our initial interview, we discuss the design goals for your project, including pros and cons of your current space. We establish your budget, scope of work and your ideal timeline. Next, you provide inspiration images of rooms or objects that reflect your preferred aesthetic and style. Don’t worry if this feels unfamiliar; we will ask the right questions to help you figure this out. If you are struggling to come up with your preferences, our process will bring you clarity and hope.
2
Schematic Design
At this phase, we examine every aspect of your project and present you with our initial ideas for achieving your design goals with the determined parameters. More specifically, we develop the style concept, visit your property to measure existing space, draft initial floor plans if necessary, and discuss preliminary selections of finishes, fixtures and furniture. We’ll also share inspirational images for your project from websites such as Pinterest and Houzz.
3
Design Development
We’ll meet to show you the initial ideas and selected materials. We will continue the editing process based on your feedback and preferences. This allows us to really hone in on your unique personal design aesthetic. After your approval of the Schematic Design concept we proceed with developing the full design and finalizing options for finishes, fixtures and furniture. Depending on the scope and size of the project, we may meet with you several times to present and refine your selections. We guide you through the process—starting with the items that have the largest impact and working through to the smallest details. We work with your contractor or ours to further develop the plan. If working on a kitchen or bath we can provide an elevation drawing of the cabinet design as well.
4
Construction Assistance
During construction, literally hundreds of decisions must be made. Each of these specific concerns can be addressed through us. We will respond as your advocate, working with you to make the correct design decisions and providing the details needed. We can also secure bids for the various tradespeople and vendors if necessary. Our goal is to help you navigate this process so that it is as positive and rewarding as possible while acknowledging its disruptive and difficult nature. Finally, we love to oversee the installation of your furniture, window treatments, art and accessories.
